A priority focus for our Board of Directors is to provide opportunity for our shareholder suppliers to undertake professional development. In part this is for the future benefit of our Co-operative and Silver Fern Farms Limited as we grow our pipeline of emerging talent – the future governors of our business. But it is also to support the rural communities we are all part of – ensuring that you receive skills that you can implement in your own significant farming business – together with the many local organisations that you support and that form the fabric of your rural community.

To the core - LEadership and governance development Programme

Farmlands Co-operative and Silver Fern Farms Co-operative are pleased to welcome applications for our award winning
rural governance leadership programme – To The Core.

This unique programme has been designed for Farmlands and Silver Fern Farms shareholders and gives participants an
opportunity to learn more about governance in our co-operatives, as well as develop skills needed to operate at board

What programme attendees thought about the programme last year:

"I would recommend this programme to help promote and give confidence for people to put their name forward for roles
in the community where good governance is required."
- Geoff Crawford, 2018

"So good to have an opportunity to better understand our co-ops, and I am very pleased to see the commitment to
developing future Directors."
- Mel Montgomery, 2018

"I found the course to be thought provoking and stimulating which has confirmed my desire to pursue my own governance
career. I’m sure that anyone who decides to accept a place on future courses will find clarity in their future, whether it be
in governance or any other leadership opportunities, or perhaps taking their own business to the next level."
- Randal Hanrahan

Applications for the 2019 course have now closed. Expressions of interest for the 2020 programme can be sent to Clark Taylor -
