Richard operates a 300ha sheep and cropping property at Tapanui, West Otago. He was elected to the Board in 2013. Richard is a past Chairman of the Meat Industry Excellence Group. He has a Bachelor of Commerce in Economics from Otago University. He completed the institute of Directors company directors course in 2014 and is a member of the Institute of Directors. He also completed the Kellogg Rural Leaders Programme in 2011 and the Leading Board co-operative governance course in 2013.
